The Journey of Discovery “The Human Body” continues! Students are learning about the human body through a variety of activities such as running and checking their heart rates, making superfood bliss balls, researching eyes and cones, blood types, karate, learning about the circulatory system and the skeletal system, yoga, building the human skeleton with magnetic rods and balls, full body tracing, bone matching games, drawing the human eye, researching how much sugar is in the food we eat, polling students and creating charts detailing eye color...wow!

Our motivated group of emerging readers is now working three days a week following the Orton-Gillingham Method of learning reading and writing in a sequential approach.

Journey Support

Thanks to Balance Bethlehem for lending us the use of one of their lovely yoga studios for a Woodland yoga class! We are also grateful for the use of the Balance Bethlehem yoga mats for our own in-house yoga offering as well.

Thanks also to Leanne Bernier of MovNat for joining us for a morning of amazing movement! Leanne taught a variety of crawling movements including the bear crawl, army crawl, and crab walk, jumping for height and jumping for distance, soft landings, balance, and climbing techniques. In the woods we balanced on fallen logs, jumped off rocks of varying height, climbed trees without branches, and climbed an overhanging limb! When recess was mentioned, it was met with groans - they wanted to keep going!

Thank you to the many families who contributed delicious ingredients for the bliss ball project!

Upcoming at Woodland:

  • Mouli Pan dance workshop at Balance Bethlehem
  • The Great Batik Meltdown !!!!
