"This Is Not A Pipe...."

What would you do if you had a length of PVC pipe? The students at Woodland, who are immersed in our Journey of Discovery "Dream It! Design It!" turned their PVC pipe into all sorts of wonderful creations!  What seemed like a pipe was turned into a pencil or a shark, or a bank or a galaxy. Still other students turned their pipes into a trophy or a sharpie holder.

One of our wonderful parents spent time with us teaching the students how to quilt. Each student is designing and quilting his or her own square which will then be turned into a Woodland Community School quilt for 2016. Be sure to stop by and see the progress. Thanks, Jessie!

Throughout the week, students continued to work on their Journey projects, always amazing us with their ingenuity and curiosity! Tye is perfecting his cross bow while Finley and Ani made a miniature golf course. Ori designed and made a human sized set of wings and Olivia is moving on to casting the parts for her original play.  Harper constructed a battlefield out of plywood, paint and clay, complete with soldiers in position and ready to go to battle. Amidst all this Journey work, is an abundance of skill work as well. Nina is becoming an enthusiastic writer while other students are working on their math skills. OSE students are learning about Presidential Debates and making their own political posters which are sprinkled throughout the school. Fall is in the air as Farm To Table students roasted maple flavored pumpkin seeds. Delish! Linus made magnetic slime and serenaded us on the bongo drums, while others wrote quietly in their journals, working on their creative writing.
