Reading brings joy to our group of emerging readers as they listen to fellow student Zoe read the book Harold and the Purple Crayon! They also have the opportunity to use their imaginations and their own purple crayons to create their own artwork.
Read Aloud books being read at the end of each day include Poppy, by Avi, The Girl Who Drank the Moon, by Kelly Barnhill, and The Seventh Most Important Thing, by Shelley Pearsall. During individual reading time each day students are seen tucked on window sills or benches all around the school, on the floor underneath a table, or side by side with a teacher. Student chosen books are Close To Famous, by Joan Bauer, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, by Jeff Kinney, Wonderstruck, by Brian Selznick, Guinness Book of World Records, and Fever, 1795, by Laurie Hale Anderson.
Woodland students are wrapping up the current "Dream It! Design It!" Journey and the brainstorming for our next Journey has already begun. The Farm To Table group prepared delicious donuts and pumpkin pies which they popped into the freezer to be eaten during Halloween Happenings next week. The cooking crew also made Cajun potatoes and cheesy-kale muffins for us to enjoy during lunch!
OSE students have been honing their research skills while preparing for their Presidential Debate next week. The OSE students took their studies "off campus" to M-Zo for tea and talking points. Thanks for hosting, Emshika!
We rounded out our week with a LEGO free-for-all as students made structures, cars, Ghostbusters figures with proton packs, ships, a money tree, a lair and so much more!
